What We Collect
Account information
When you sign up, we collect your name and email address. If you sign in with Google, we receive your basic Google profile info (name, email, profile picture).
Learning data
Your test scores, exercise completions, study plan progress, and daily goal streaks. This powers your dashboard and helps us show you where to focus.
Audio recordings
When you practice speaking exercises, your audio is sent to OpenAI's Whisper API for transcription. We do not store your audio recordings after processing.
Written responses
Your writing practice submissions are sent to OpenAI for AI scoring and feedback. We store your scores but do not permanently retain full submission text.
Usage data
Basic analytics like pages visited, features used, and session duration. This helps us improve the platform.
Payment information
Payments are processed securely by our payment provider. We never see or store your full card number.
How We Use Your Data
To power your learning
Track your progress, generate personalized study plans, calculate your estimated NCLC level, and show you which areas need the most work.
To provide AI feedback
Your speaking and writing submissions are processed by AI to give you detailed scores, corrections, and improvement suggestions.
To communicate with you
Send you account confirmations, password resets, and important service updates. We will never spam you with marketing emails.
To improve PassFrench
Understand how the platform is used so we can fix bugs, add features, and make your study experience better.
Third-Party Services
Supabase
Authentication and database hosting. Your account data is stored securely on Supabase's infrastructure.
OpenAI
Powers our AI scoring for writing and speaking exercises, chat assistant, and AI explanations. Audio and text are sent for processing only and are not used to train their models.
Vercel
Hosts the PassFrench web application.
Resend
Sends transactional emails (confirmations, password resets) from hello@passfrench.com.
Google OAuth
If you choose to sign in with Google, Google provides us your basic profile. We do not access your Gmail, Drive, or any other Google services.
Your Rights
Access your data
You can view all your learning data, scores, and progress directly from your dashboard and settings.
Update your information
Change your name, email, or password anytime from your account settings.
Delete your account
Contact us at support@passfrench.com and we will delete your account and all associated data within 30 days.
Export your data
Request a copy of all your personal data by emailing support@passfrench.com.
Withdraw consent
You can stop using the platform at any time. If you signed in with Google, you can revoke access from your Google account settings.
Data Security
Encryption
All data is transmitted over HTTPS (TLS encryption). Your password is hashed and never stored in plain text.
Secure infrastructure
Our database and hosting providers maintain enterprise-grade security certifications.
Minimal data collection
We only collect what we need to provide and improve the service. We don't sell your data to anyone, ever.
Children's Privacy
Age requirement
PassFrench is designed for users aged 16 and older. If you are under 16, please use the platform with parental or guardian supervision.
Parental rights
If you believe a child under 16 has provided us personal data without consent, contact us at support@passfrench.com and we will promptly delete it.
